Some application portals request one attachment; others ask for separate files. Follow the employer’s instructions first. If one file is requested, combining documents can make review easier, but it does not improve a resume’s content or guarantee that an applicant-tracking system will read it correctly.
Plan the page order before merging
- Check the posting for required documents, file types, and maximum upload size.
- Use a clear order, such as cover letter, resume, then requested certificates or work samples.
- Make sure scans are upright and readable. Avoid adding sensitive personal information that the application did not request.
- Keep the original source files so you can revise the package later.
Combine PDFs with PDFPK
Open Merge PDF, select the PDF documents, and use the file cards to put them in the intended order. The merge tool imports pages from each file; it does not convert Word documents or image files as part of the merge request. Convert supported images with JPG to PDF first, then add the resulting PDF.
The merge page offers a “Fit to A4 Page” option. Use it only if you want pages scaled to that page size; leave it off when the original page dimensions matter. After downloading, open the result and check page sequence, text size, and whether all pages are present.
Do not compress automatically
Only compress the merged file if the portal’s size limit requires it. The compressor can change image quality, and the result may not be smaller. Compare file size and review the output before uploading your application.
